ScheduleWorld Side

After signing up and logging in there are a few things that must be changed in the scheduleworld configuration page.

• General Preferences for: as it says those are just general preferences , they have nothing to do with the syncing procedures,can be left as they are
• GMail Contact Synchronization: would be handy but gmail sucks under this point. Gmail remembers automatically every address you have sent an email to and this means that after a while you will find a lot of guys called “unsubscribe” on your phone contacts, this is the part that sucks.I don’t use this feature.
• Standard SyncML Client Configuration: these are the configuration options we will use on the Nokia, all Nokia N series comes with syncML compliant client and we will use it.
• Funambol SyncML Client Configuration: if the application/device you want to sync doesn’t come with a syncML compliant client there is a possibility that you can install some funambol components to make it work and sync properly with scheduleworld.(for iPod , Windows Mobile, Outlook, theres should be something for BlackBerries too)
• Evolution SyncML Configuration (SyncEvolution): for the evolution office suite ( if you don’t know what it is don’t bother).I use Gnome but I when I’m not home I must use windows,so I prefer crossplatform applications like the ones from Mozilla.

There are other configuration option at the bottom of the boxes (its actually another wider box in pink and purple colors). If you want to sync with google calendar the configuration options with a pink background are the ones that matter the most.(those ones that come after “To manually sync with your specific Google Calendar click ‘Google Sync’ at the top of the day view. “).

• Authorization: most of people should click on “Single User/AuthStub”, if you use google apps for your domain then you should click on “Hosted Domain/Client Login”.After that your browser will fire up a google page that asks you if you want to grant permission to scheduleworld.com, you should answear yes.
• Corresponding Google Calendar Username (email): your google login
• Google Calendar Title:click “Find” and chose the calendar you wish to sync with.
• Other options: the defaults are ok, maybe you want the “Automatically sync with this Google Calendar with every SyncML sync” set to “yes” so that every time you sync with scheduleworld you get synced to google calendar automatically.

Nokia Side

The syncML client by Nokia is called “Syncronization” and it should be under “Utilities” (my N95 is in Italian).Options->NewProfile.

• Profile Name: Anything you want
• Applications:we will sync Contacts and Calendar, click on Contacts: Include:yes ; Database: card ; Direction:both; go back.Click on Calendar: Include:yes ; Database: cal ; Direction:both. Pay attention: Contacts database is “card”, Calendar database is “cal”.
• Connection: these info are on the scheduleworld configuration page in the “Standard SyncML Client Configuration” box. Put the server url in the “host address”, do the same for username and password.

Now go back with your phone to the syncronization page and click on the new created profile to sync your phone to Scheduleworld and to Google Calendar with it.

Thunderbird Side

You can find Scheduleworld extension for thunderbird here, right click save, fireup thunderbird and under Tools->Add-Ons click on install and select the extension, restart thunderbird. Upon restarting a wizard should show up guiding you to the configuration options,as usual you can find these infos on the scheduleworld configuration page.After Username and Password you are asked what contacts you want to sync, Personal Address Book are the contacts you created , Collected Address Book are the contacts you know cause you sent or they ahve sent something to you.Next is the Calendars to Syncronize, put a mark on “Sync” and chose the calendar to sync, keep going and reading till you finish.Now aunder tools->SyncSW to sync.

Tip for Gnome Users

Gnome has a clock applet that if you click on it it shows you a calendar , that calendar is connected to evolution and it will show in glance all your appointments,pretty handy feature. If you don’t want to use evolution there’s a solution here

A few weeks ago I wrote a post concerning how much vista is expansive compared to computers shipped with linux where you just pay the hardware and you get a bunch of good free software.

Nowadays when you go to a computer shop you find a lot of laptops with big “Ready for Vista” stickers so i called my article “Get Ready for Windows Vista” that is in italian “Preparati a Windows Vista”, just for the sake of joking .

It happens that if you search for “Preparati per Windows Vista” instead of seeing results from shops, newspapers, magazines that actually talk about getting ready for vista you see the first result from Microsoft and the second one is from my blog where I actually tell people that buying Vista is stupid, expensive and in the case you still want it I left there a link to a financial institute that make loans and I called it “Preparati a Windows Vista”.

Here you are , “Get Ready for” or “Preparati a ” Windows Vista” using google.

P.S. What happens when you don’t know this stuff and you look for “Get ready for Linux”? And mostly “How the hell is possible?”

Già…[tag]google[/tag] inizia sul serio a farmi paura….

Un po di posti “google maps” interessanti e sopratutto ingranditi. Le immagini sono ad ingrandimento 23 . L’unico modo per ottenere questo ingrandimento è sostituendo un numero all’interno dell’inidirizzo dell pagina di google maps, in particolare ” z=XX”. Nella barra dell’indirizzo del browser fra i vari “&qualcosa&qualcosaltro&ancoraaltro” c’è un “&z=XX&” , con l’ingrandimento massimo ottenibile scorrendo l’immagine col mouse si trova z=19 e lo si sostituisce con z=23.

Come funziona?

E’ uno scipt interessante per chi ha un sito/blog ,lo script è in grado di riconoscere il browser del visitatore e nel caso usi explorer viene suggerito di cambiare browser
Ci sono 3 tipi di suggerimenti da impostare, i link sono alle demo.

1. Gentile Incoraggiamento
2. Semi Serio
3. Dannatamento serio ( se usi explorer non passi)

Occore un account [tag]Adsense[/tag], se non lo avete basta registrarsi e dopo un paio di giorni viene attivato.
Lo script si puo scaricare da qui.

L’installazione è semplice ma “tricckettosa”:nel zip scaricato ci sono vari file,escludendo la cartella MacOS,troverete almeno 3 file html che corrispondono ai vari livelli di suggerimenti.Io ho scelto (ancora non l’ho messo perchè Google non si decide ad attivarmi adsense) il livello 1 ed il file è level_1_script.html

Aprite il file html con un editor di testo e selezionate TUTTO (Edit–>Select All ; Modifica –>Seleziona Tutto) e copiate negli appunti (click destro + copia).

Ora viene la parte tricckettosa ovvero facile se sai che fare ma un casino se non lo sai quindi all’occhio.

Aprite la pagina web dove volete che appaiano i suggerimenti profirefox,se usate wordpress si ottiene lo stesso risultato modificando il tema (Bacheca di amministrazione–>Aspetto–>Editor Temi—>sulla destra “Testata”).

Cercate il tag
< body >

selezionatelo tutto e fate incolla, per selezionato tutto intendo che i simboli “>” e “< " devono essere compresi, così quella tag < body > verrà sostituita con l’intero script che già la contiene.

Una cosa del genere…

Qui ho postato un imaggine per rendere più chiara la cosa per wordpress,se non avete wordpress non cambia nulla,la tag è la stessa,la cosa importante ripeto è selezionarla tutta e poi copiare al posto di questa tutto lo script di ExplorerDestroyer.Data l’importanza di questo procedimento è meglio avere copie di backup,basta un “>” nel posto sbagliato per impazzire.

Fra le cose che avete incollato dovrebbe esserci questo blocco

questo va sostituito con il codice di Adsense (login in Adsense –> Referrals–>Firefox)

Tablogga va ma se non dovesse andare probabilmente è colpa di google,dipenda anche dal browser ma Tablogga usa googleanalytics per le statistiche ed è possibile che non andando quello non vada più niente.

L’ultimo aggiornamento mi ha tolto una valangata di plugin e a vista non sembra cambiare nulla.Il supporto audio/video sembra ancora lontano anni luce e forse appena ci arriveranno msn cambierà tutto e dovranno iniziare tutto da capo.

Mi sa che dovrò/dovremmo rassegnarci a non poter chattare con audio/video con quelli che hanno msn,bisogna iniziare a convincere tutti a cambiare programmino di messaggistica e a farli usare qualcosa di più aperto,magari GoogleTalk.
Forza Google e fai il culo a messenger.
